Most commonly, optical computing intercepts and / or manipulates information by electromagnetic or acoustic waves or rays. Since 1972, there have been six meetings to discuss this topic and a large number of albums, reviews and articles have been published. The more important application of optical computing is computing or processing information (rather than simply intercepting) with the optical wavefront of a coherent laser input source. With such an optical processor, we can accomplish a number of basic operations, and these operations have many applications in image processing and signal processing. Hybrid optical / math processors are also of interest as they are used in the final implementation of any optical processor.
