At the April 1994 Frontier, Eastwood, Lebel, Dilay, and Blakeslee published a comprehensive review article on bituminous vapor thermal recovery seismic monitoring. This article outlines the spectral attenuation method for one of the key techniques used to map vapor-heating zones in the cold lake region of Alberta, Canada. This article focuses on the frequency spectrum analysis in the Cold Lake region, and then proposes the possibility of this method for the seismic imaging of more general gas reservoirs.
