这个故事是红军长征时期,毛主席的勤务员陈昌奉回忆:渡过金沙江之后,勤务员首先为毛主席铺地烧水,并没为主席准备办公用具,主席说:“重要的是工作,吃饭喝水是小事。”而且,毛主席非常关心勤务员的学习,常常教他写字。毛主席经常工作到深夜,才吃当天下午剩下的饭。主席还把吃剩的饭留到下顿饭再吃。有一次,部队上山时下雨,勤务员病了,无力行走,毛主席把大衣让给了勤务员,自己只穿了一件单薄的衣服站在秋风中。
