全球变暖、环境恶化、生态失衡、动植物消失、水污染严重……环境问题已经成为当今世界的一个重大课题。21世纪的中国,经济建设飞速发展的同时,面临着严峻的环境问题。胡锦涛总书记强调:环境是经济社会可持续发展的依托,是我们共同生存的家园。加强环境保护和建设,让人民群众喝上干净的水,呼吸上清洁的空气,吃上放心的食物,是树立和落实科学发展观的必然要求,是坚持以人为本的具体体现。全社会都要坚持不懈地做好爱护环境、保护环境、建设环境的工作,努力实现人与自然和谐发展的目标。

Environmental problems have become an important issue in today’s world. In the 21st century, while China’s economy is booming, it is facing serious environmental problems. General Secretary Hu Jintao emphasized: The environment is the basis for sustainable economic and social development and is the home to our common existence. To strengthen environmental protection and construction so that the public can drink clean water, breathe clean air and eat reassuring food is a necessary requirement for establishing and implementing the scientific concept of development and a concrete manifestation of adhering to the people-oriented principle. The whole society must unswervingly do the work of caring for the environment, protecting the environment and building the environment, and strive to realize the goal of harmonious development between man and nature.
