According to a study by Scientia Horticulturae (March 2012), researchers at Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Plant Science studied the effects of pistil occurrence on sweet cherry fertilization. The purpose of the experiment was to study the incidence of prominent pistils in sweet cherry flower, the relationship with the temperature of flowering and the effect on the fruit.
