The focus is on pool boiling heat transfer performance of water and ethanol on a smooth copper surface where the reinforcing elements are placed. The stiffening element limits the space above the partially heated surface so that the space where the liquid is present is divided into confined spaces and free spaces that alternate. The main parameters discussed in this study are heat flux (13-400 kW / m 2) and confined spatial scales (0.2 mm, 0.5 mm, unrestricted structure). Experimental results show that for both water and ethanol, these elements have good boiling heat transfer characteristics and the visualization results show that almost all of the effective nucleation sites are within the confined space, even in the case of high degree of superheat There are few effective nucleation sites within.
