The impact of laser shock treatment on the fatigue properties of 2024 T62 aluminum alloy was studied. The results show that after laser shock treatment, the fatigue life of aluminum alloy is significantly increased, and the fatigue crack growth rate is greatly reduced. Decreasing surface roughness, increasing dislocation density, residual compressive stress on the surface and increasing surface hardness are the main mechanisms by which laser shock treatment improves the fatigue properties of aluminum alloy
