闭门羹现在人们常把登门访友,求其所助,却值铁将军把门,不得相见,未能实现初衷,叫做“吃闭门羹”。羹,一种煮成浓液的食品,在汤中以生粉着黏即成,因所加原料不同,品种很多。据唐冯贽《云仙杂记》卷一《迷香洞》引《常新绿》云:宣城妓女史凤,生就一双势利眼,她把来客分成三六九等,接待的方式和态度亦各不相同,最下的一等客人,不与相见,被其拒之门外,仅让人以一碗羹草草相待了事,谓之“闭门羹”。这种羹,不问其煮得如何,即便是香濡齿颊,脍炙人口的佐餐妙品、点饥佳肴,吃的人大约只会是“别是一番滋味在心头”吧!
