伊拉克战争爆发后,我一直收看中央电视台和香港凤凰卫视有关战事发展的直播和评论,抽时间还要浏览订阅的几份报纸,密切关注有关动向。由于整天跟踪伊前线的形势,打乱了退休后的生活规律,头脑似乎紧张了许多,以至于半夜经常从睡梦中惊醒,满脑子都是炮火浓烟中的巴格达、巴士拉、摩苏尔……有时脑海中浮现出紧急会议中的萨达姆、乌代、库赛、残垣断壁的房屋、惊慌逃跑的人群…… 1970年至1977年,我曾在我国驻伊拉克大使馆工作近7年。迄今我依然清楚地记得,刚到伊时,我才33岁,萨达姆·侯赛因与我同岁,我还比他大4个月。当时艾哈迈德·哈桑·贝克尔是共和国总统、革命指挥委员会主席、阿拉伯复兴社会党地区领导机构总书记,库尔德人马鲁夫任副总统,萨达姆为革指会
After the outbreak of the war in Iraq, I watched the live broadcasts and commentary on the development of CCTV and Hong Kong’s Phoenix Satellite Television.
