OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between circulating endothelial cells, endothelin, oxidized low density lipoprotein and homocysteine in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and the relationship between oxidized low density lipoprotein and homocysteine and circulating endothelial cells and endothelium Correlation between factors. Methods: Plasma levels of LDL and homocysteine were measured by enzyme - linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), respectively. The levels of circulating endothelial cells and endothelin in plasma were also determined. The correlations and linear correlation analysis. Results: The circulating endothelial cells in coronary heart disease group were 7.78 ± 3.31cells / 0.9μL, the endothelin was 98.14 ± 35.08ng / L, the level of oxidized low density lipoprotein was 809.25 ± 311.89μg / L and that of homocysteine was 19.40 ± 7.03μmol / L. The above indexes of the control group were 4.10 ± 1.60cells / 0.9μl, 52.61 ± 15.71ng / L, 438.24 ± 200.54μg / L and 11.19 ± 2.94μmol / L respectively. The difference between the two groups was significant P <0.001. Coronary heart disease group of blood oxidized low density lipoprotein and plasma circulating endothelial cells, endothelin were positively correlated, the correlation coefficients were 0.926 (P <0.001), 0.979 (P <0.001), homocysteine and circulating endothelial cells, The correlation coefficient was 0.947 (P <0.001), 0.900 (P <0.001), and there was a positive correlation between plasma endothelin and endothelin in coronary heart disease (P <0.001). Conclusion: Oxidized LDL and homocysteine may cause VEC injury and functional changes, which may promote the development of atherosclerosis.
