In 2005, under the support of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the party committee of the autonomous region and the government, the Northwest Institute of Nationalities renamed the “Northern University of Nationalities” as one of the three major tasks for the school and was included in the school’s main agenda. After unremitting efforts throughout the hospital, “renamed ” work achieved initial results. In February 2006, the Ministry of Education issued a document to authorize the establishment of the Northern Ethnic University on the basis of the Northwest Institute for Ethnic Minorities for a two-year preparatory period. The Northern University for Nationalities (chips) is the only subordinate national university in our country established in the minority autonomous region. The school covers an area of 77
