在顺义城西北24公里处有个村庄叫板桥村。它名字的由来要追述到明朝天顺年间,那时这个村只有10余户人家。一日,明英宗朱祁镇微服出外游玩,途经这个无名小村时,正准备去村东杏园品尝美味儿时,却被“牤牛河”拦住去路。皇帝身边的武士渡过了“牤牛河”,从百姓家中扛来三块木板,搭在河两岸。朱祁镇龙颜大乐,为这个无名小村起名为板桥。
