要了解一个城市的进步程度,可以从它的交通建设入手。台北捷运早在淡水线通车时便率先推动艺术与工程的结合。在沿线车站内设置了公共艺术作品以提升车站空间品质,并经由多样化的作品设计,来加强车站的地缘特色及促进捷运建设之亲和力。台北捷运现共设置41件公共艺术品,总金额高达新台币1亿4千多万元,其中一件“儿童的彩绘大地”马赛克拼贴步道,因破损率太高,已遭拆除,而部分公共艺术品因设置时间较久,也出现故障
