Objective To understand the pollution levels and trends of major pollutants and harmful factors in food in Qingdao City, find out the hidden dangers of food safety in time, and strengthen the supervision over the production, distribution and sales of foodstuffs. Methods In 2014, the food safety risk monitoring area in Qingdao involved 6 municipal districts and 4 county-level cities in the city and was tested according to relevant methods such as the 2014 National Handbook of Food Contamination and Hazard Risk Monitoring. Results A total of 1305 batches of 15 categories of food products were monitored in 2014 with a pass rate of 95.86% (1251/1305). Among them, the qualified rate of chemical pollutants and harmful factors monitoring was 96.58% (705/730), 13 batches exceeded the national standard, 12 batches of samples banned from being banned; the detection rate of foodborne pathogens was 20.57% ( 29/141). Conclusion The quality of food safety in Qingdao is generally good and the overall situation of food safety continues to be stable. However, food safety risks still exist. The more prominent problems are the detection of food-borne pathogens, pesticide residues, food additives and so on. To ensure food safety, we must strengthen supervision.
