今年是辜鸿铭诞辰150周年。在西方人眼里,辜鸿铭与印度的泰戈尔不分伯仲,被视为东方的代言人、圣哲,更有甚者说“到中国可以不看紫禁城,不可以不看辜鸿铭”。而在国人的眼中,历史留给他的境遇是何等尴尬。
This year is the 150th birthday of Ku Hung-ming. In the eyes of Westerners, Gu Hongming is indissoluble with Tagore in India and regarded as the spokesman and holy philosopher of the East. What is more, he said: “By not going to see the Forbidden City in China, we must not look down at Gu Hongming.” However, in the eyes of the people, what an awkward situation history has left him.
