The history or “pedigree” of the evolution of Marxism in the world during the 20th century was neither a continuous evolution of homogeneity nor a single “familial” type of straight-line succession, but a more “central” and more “family” Splittist confrontation and coexistence pattern. With the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the drastic changes in Eastern Europe, especially the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the “pedigree” of Marxism in the world has undergone a sudden change: the triumphant pattern of Marxism in the “three worlds” system has ceased to exist Not only has Marxism in the Soviet Union become history, but also “Western Marxism” has gradually disappeared in name only; there is a great variety of so-called “post-Marxist” currents converging with postmodernism. These “surrealistic” radical discourses are forming a tremendous historical and logical contrast with the contemporary Chinese Marxist discourse of practice.
