Combustion - potassium iodate titration is currently the most commonly used method for the determination of sulfur in most alloys. This method is simple and rapid, but the accuracy is poor, not suitable for low-sulfur determination. The most accurate and sensitive method for determination of low sulfur in alloys (0.00x%) is combustion - potassium iodate titration, colorimetry and gravimetric methods. In addition to the former can be used for routine analysis, the latter two are high accuracy but the procedures are more cumbersome, difficult to grasp, subject to conditions.
