闻一多先生是我国著名诗人、学者、民主斗士。他毕生热爱祖国，曾积极参加五四反帝爱国运动。在抗日战争后期，基于对国民党专制腐败之义愤，拍案而起，投入反独裁争民主运动。他耿介正直，光明磊落，疾恶如仇，在群众中特别是在青年学生中深受爱戴尊敬，为此，也引起反动派对他特别的恐惧与忌恨， １９４６年７月 １５ 日被国民党特务暗杀于云南省昆明市翠湖之滨，终年４７岁。闻一多先生为国家、为人民不惜献身的精神，感动了千千万万中国人。毛泽东同志赞扬他：“横眉怒对国民党的手枪，宁可倒下去，不愿屈服”，“表现了我们民族的英雄气概”，后来又把他和岳飞、文天祥、瞿秋白、方志敏、杨虎城等民族英雄并列，盛赞他们“以身殉志，不亦伟乎”。 在纪念闻一多先生牺牲四十四周年之际，本刊特约其次子韦英同志（原名闻立雕）撰文，回忆闻一多先生，让我们再一次感受爱国赤子、民主斗士的浩然正气。
Wen Yiduo is a famous poet, scholar and democratic fighter in our country. He devoted his life to the motherland and actively participated in the May 4th anti-imperialist patriotic movement. In the late Anti-Japanese War, based on the indignation and indignation of Kuomintang autocratic corruption, the case was put on the scene and put into a pro-independence democratic campaign. He was honest, honorable, vicious, and loved by the masses, especially among young students. To this end, he also caused special fears and hatred against the reactionaries. On 15 July 1946, he was assassinated by KMT agents in Yunnan Province Green Lake in Kunming, 47 years of age. Wen Yiduo, a nation, touched the hearts of thousands of Chinese people for the spirit of sacrificing their people. Comrade Mao Tse-tung praised him: “It is better to fall down than to hand down the Kuomintang pistol,” “to demonstrate the heroic spirit of our nation.” Later, he and his national hero Yue Fei, Wen Tianxiang, Qu Qiubai, Fang Zhimin and Yang Hucheng Side by side, praised them “died of martyrdom, not great”. In commemoration of the 44th anniversary of Mr. Wen Yiduo’s sacrifice, we publish a special note on the second son of Wei Ying (formerly known as Wen Li Diao) and recall Wen Yiduo. Let us once again feel the noblest of patriotic and democratic fighters.
