“即兴”是近年来对徐喆颇为重要和愈发得心应手的工作方式。这一似乎不在意逻辑判断的神秘力量让艺术家乐在其中。他当然日月白“即兴”是需要基础的,直觉发挥也需仰仗经验。这一点在使用乐器进行创作时异常明显。2011年,他根据手头现有的材料结合想像制作了一件乐器Plaxphone,然后拍摄记录了他的好友,一位即兴乐手照骏园在上海虹口区山阴路上的一所老宅的阳台上吹奏的过程,起名为《Plaxphone-逻辑的偶然》。这个行为并不是建立在测试乐器功能的目的之上的,演绎的其宴是乐手身体的体验,不管发生什么,其实对于乐手来说都是非常隐秘的。艺术家追求的正是乐手在即兴表演时因为身体体验、现场反馈随之产生的反应。
