1969年,在甘肃武威县(现武威市)城北雷台老槐树下,发现一处东汉晚期大型砖石墓葬。该墓由墓道、墓门、甬道、前中后室等部分组成。通长40米。该墓虽经多次盗掘,但仍幸存许多文物。经发掘出土有金、银、铜、铁、玉、骨、漆、石、陶器等珍贵文物共231件,古钱币3万余枚,铜车、马俑90多件。在这批神态各异、活灵活现的铜马中,有一座铜奔马重7.15公斤,高34.5厘米,长45厘米,宽13厘
