辽中京大塔辽中京大塔位于宁城县大明镇辽中京遗址内,为八角十三级密檐式砖塔,高80.22米,塔基底径48.6米,塔体直径34米,在现存辽塔中雄居魁首,在国内现存古塔中体积第一,高度第二。因辽中京城沿用到明而仅留下塔,人们习惯称之为大明塔。此塔建筑年代不详,据《元一统志》载,可能建于辽重熙四年(1036年)。清代、民国均有维修。上世纪八十年代国家拨款50多万元对大塔进行了全面维修。
