1994年6月2日《人民日报》发表新华社记者采写的通讯《种“神葱”的人》,中共中央国家机关工作委员会主办的《紫光阁》杂志1994年第八期刊登(《中国杂交大葱之父》一文;同年10月23日中央电视台新闻联播节目“中华学人”栏目也介绍了山东省章丘市高级农艺师杨日如经过17年艰辛研究,培育出我国第一个大葱杂交种,使杂交大葱比原大葱单产增加七成以上的事迹。新华社的《每日电讯》及《科技日报》、香港《文汇报》等新闻媒体也报道了杨日如的科研经历及其成果。
