李明扬这个名字对许多中老年人来说并不陌生。作为抗日战争时期国民党军队的高级将领,“鲁苏皖边区游击总指挥”、“苏鲁战区副总司令”,他的形象在影片《东进序曲》中出现过。抗战中,他在中国共产党统一战线政策的感召下帮助过苏北的新四军,作过一定的贡献。他与陈毅、粟裕还成为朋友。其实,早在这之前,李明扬就同情共产党的事业,不止一次掩护和帮助中共人士。他很早就被中国共产党视为真诚的朋友。由于他生前绝少对人提及这些,迄今其中详细鲜为人知。
