The evaluation of the Oriental Aesthetics is a not topic of thecurrent aesthetic circles. This paper is a discussion on Yu Qiuyu’s“In Pursuit of the Oriental Aesthetics”as well as the author’s reflec-tions on the Oriental Aesthetics. A comparison of the Oriental and the Occidental Aestheticsshould be objective, should seek similarity in difference, should becharacteristically comparative and complementary, but not in termsof superiority and inferiority.It is necessary for modernization to carry forward the culturaltradition and national cultures. The idea and practice of opposingmodernization and tradition and national cultures and questioningthem are simply not right. The Ratlonalist Model of Criticism of Yu Qiuyu is just a refur-bished version of the Eurocentralism.To open up the Oriental aesthetic treasure, the Eastern shouldnot be content simply to apply the western theoretical models.
