Objective To investigate the different expression of HPV L1 capsid protein in cervical exfoliated cells of Xinjiang Han and Uighur human papillomavirus (HPV) positive women. Methods A total of 221 HPV-positive Han women and 178 Uyghur women were tested for HPV L1 capsid protein expression in cervical exfoliated cells using liquid-based cytology. Results The positive rate of HPV L1 capsid protein in Han cervical epithelial cells in normal cervical cells (NILM), atypical epithelial cells (ASC-US), low-grade squamous intraepithelial neoplasia (LSIL), high-grade squamous intraepithelial neoplasia The positive rates of SCC were 39.19%, 42.86%, 64.71%, 14.29% and 0, respectively. There was significant difference between the two groups (P <0.05). The positive rates of Uygur were 33.33%, 37.24%, 53.66%, 0 and 0, respectively. There was significant difference between the two groups in ASC-US, LSIL and HSIL (P <0.05) No expression. Two ethnic groups, the same level of lesions was no significant difference (P> 0.05). In the histopathological diagnosis, no significant difference was found between the two ethnic groups at the same level (P> 0.05). In the case of ≥CINI lesions, the positive rates of HPV L1 capsid protein in both ethnic groups were decreased with the increase of lesions, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusions The HPV L1 capsid protein of Han and Uygur nationality has no significant difference in the same grade of pathological changes, but the difference of HPV L1 capsid protein in different pathological types of Han and Uygur patients decreases with the degree of lesion.
