Objective: To study the changing characteristics of event-related potentials under different states of attention. METHODS: Eighteen cases of normal young adults were enrolled in the oddball mode. Non-target stimuli were 80% low-frequency 75 0 Hz short beats and 20% high-frequency short-harsters with 20% target stimuli. NicoletPathfinder Ⅱ evoked potential was used to record the change of latency and amplitude of each wave of event-related potentials under count / no-count state when the target was actively resolved. Results: Compared with the time when the target was stimulated, the amplitude of P3 was not significantly decreased (P <0.01), and the latency of P3 and latency of other waves were not significant. Conclusion: The amplitude of P3 0 0 is closely related to attention. P3 latency is not easily affected by participants’ attentiveness and is a stable indicator of cognitive function
