In order to better understand this structure, we need to further investigate the relationship between the different sub-meaning of polysemy. In phonology, analysts often assume that interdependent units or units that can be grouped are more likely to experience parallel historical changes. In this limited semantic field of English perceptual verbs, this chapter investigates the interrelationship between synchronic semantic combinations and parallel phenomena in the history of meaning.
