I am an instrument for measuring current—an ammeter, denoted by the notation “(A)”. Since in the center of my dial, the international master unit “Ampere” (A), which is often marked with current, is the current meter in amperes, people I used to call me the “ampere meter.” In essence, we don’t only have the “ampere meter” type of ammeter family, but also “millimeter meters,” which measure “weak current” in milliamps (mA). People commonly call it “sensitive galvanometer”. No matter whether it is “ampere meter” or “millimeter meter”, it is no longer called the original name in the current physics textbooks. It is collectively called the ammeter.
