By discussing the tectonic system of the backarc basin, the authors consider it to be a product of activation. Based on the analysis of geological, geophysical and geochemical data, the authors concluded that due to the balance of the East Asian island arc lithosphere and the sinking and dragging of the lithospheric block outside the trench cooling the asthenosphere Differentiation occurs under the arc of the island system. This differentiation causes the East Asian continental margin to expand eastwards, resulting in a back arc. The article also made a rough discussion of other modes. Finally, the author divides the backarc basin into five stages of evolution, and gives a brief description of the characteristics of each stage.
