1997年2月22日,时任四川省革委会主任、省委第一书记、成都军区第一政委、常委、第一书记的张国华将军,在主持解决四川大学问题的会议上,猝然发病,倒在会场。毛主席、周总理立刻派出专家小组,连夜飞往成都抢救,但未能奏效,张国华将军永远离开了我们。3月11日,周总理亲自到北京西郊机场迎接张国华将军的骨灰。随同周总理前往的还有叶剑英、聂荣臻、徐向前三位元帅,以及郭沫若、李先念、余秋里、万里等党和国家领导人。
On February 22, 1997, when he was the director of the Sichuan Revolutionary Committee, first secretary of the provincial party committee, and General Zhang Guohua, the first political commissar and first secretary of the Chengdu Military Region, when he presided over the conference to solve the problem of Sichuan University, Down at the venue. Along with Premier Zhou went there were Yeh Ying-ying, Nie Rongzhen, and Xu Xiangqian’s three marshals, as well as party and state leaders such as Guo Moruo, Li Xiannian, Yu Qiuli and Miles.
