We estimate the health and cost effectiveness of developing a National Health Care Program (NHP) in the United States. This plan will likely provide universal and multi-faceted public medical care. Based on an empirical study of the relationship between health services (?) costs and effectiveness, we expect that NHP plans to increase health services by 14.6%, saving 47,000 to 106,000 lives each year. Because the United States faces an excess of hospital beds and doctors, excess medical institutions will provide services at low cost. Condensing the health care sector, where bureaucracy is prevalent, will result in significant cost savings. Because the 3.57 billion U.S. dollars (US dollars) spent on supplementary medical care will be compensated by the 4.59 billion U.S. dollars saved from the elimination of bureaucratic institutions, the implementation of the NHP plan will reduce the cost by 2.4%, saving US$ 1.02 billion annually.
