我省早春气温偏低,少雨干旱,甘蔗出苗较迟,苗期生长缓慢,即使在地膜覆盖条件下,也要在3月中、下旬始能出苗,6月中、下旬才能封行。从甘蔗收获到第二季甘蔗苗封行,相距120～170天。在这段时间内,选择生长期短、早熟、植株生长紧凑的蔬菜,进行合理间套种,可充分利用光热,提高土地利用率,对稳定我省甘蔗的种植面积,促进蔬菜生产的发展,增加单位面积产量和产值,有着重要的作用。
