The investigation by Song Ji, the former chairman of China Resources (Group) Corporation, of the Commission for Discipline Inspection put the period of Songlin, a period in which China Resources opened its doors and broke ground, and did not draw a successful conclusion. Song’s successor, is Fu Yuening, 57, the former chairman of China Merchants Group. His airborne landing temporarily alleviates the rumors and speculation inside China Resources regarding the turmoil in top personnel. Thin, gray-haired Fu Yuning has a low-key and luxurious resume: In the 1980s, he received a doctorate in engineering from the United Kingdom. In 1998, he joined China Merchants Group. In 2000, he served as president of China Merchants Group. In 2010, he was chairman of China Merchants Group. This “scholar-businessman” has been praised by the industry for its drastic internal reforms in the Asian financial crisis. When he took over as the chairman of China Merchants Group, Fu Yuning once said: “I think a mature enterprise should make a rational summary of the past when the top executives change.”
