我所地处珠江三角洲水乡河网地带,气候温暖,雨量充沛,土地肥沃。全所总耕地面积四百亩,分设农业生态开发区(250亩),试验示范区(150亩)。 1978以来,我所对农业生产结构进行逐步调整,按照农业生态规律发展农业生产,遵循经济规律和自然规律,合理安排农、牧、渔、副业生产布局,发展商品生产,改善农、牧、渔、果之间的生态环境,建立一个良性循环的生态农业。通过几年的努力,经济效益,环境和社会效益得到提高,使我所总收入,从1978年的5.1万元增至1984年的26万元,增加4倍多,人均产值达2145元。目前我所生产布局,鱼塘130亩(1985年春挖鱼塘30亩),水稻85亩,香蕉60亩,橙柑50亩,塘基50亩,间种荔枝600株;花卉、花生、葡萄、凉粉草等45亩。农业生产结构比较合理。
