Many of the core concepts of formalism are related to music. As a Finnish musicologist and semiotic scientist, the author traced the origins of Russian formalism and Finland and discussed some of its concepts related to music. In addition, the author examines the core concepts and implications of the three important theorists William Zeeman, Prudence and Bakhtin.
