Remote sensing technology distinguishes water temperature from salinity effects. The proposed laser / heterodyne receiver proposed in this paper can remotely measure the temperature and salinity of the sea surface. Its working principle is based on acoustic / light-induced sound / light scattering of sound waves. The thermal motion of water molecules produces high-frequency sound waves that interact with light through the Brillouin scattering mechanism. The frequency shift produced by the monochromatic laser light scattering is proportional to the temperature and salinity of the scattering space.
