This article discusses the influences of the paintings by the Dutch painter Bosch on the postmodern narration in contemporary discourse and examines the differences and interactions among the multimodal narrative modes inspired by Bosch. The essay will focus on the object of “repetition / absence” in the narrative grammar of the American novelist Andrew Lindsay’s “Carnival of Breadmaker” as the main object, meta-narration and narrative style , To ask the significance of Booz’s paintings in contemporary art. The ultimate goal is not to generalize and summarize Boush’s paintings, but to think more about the complex interactions between the symbolic mechanisms of multimodal narratives.
