In this paper, principal component analysis (PCA) was used to study the water quality characteristics of wild Phragmites communis population in the Beihai, Guangxi Province. The results showed that the ten water quality indicators of the annual monitoring could be divided into four main components which represented 72.895% of the original data, Nutrients, heavy metals Cu / Pb, pH and heavy metal Zn and reducing substances COD; DIN and Pb content of which meet the three types of seawater quality standards, PO4-P and COD content in line with four types of seawater quality standards, Cu and Zn content More than four types of seawater quality standards range. The results showed that the population growth of wild Phragmites communis in Beihai, Guangxi may be mainly affected by nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients and heavy metals in seawater and could tolerate higher concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients and heavy metals. It provided a scientific basis for the use of Phoebe bryophyta in the eutrophication and remediation of heavy metal contaminated seas.
