Objective To explore the effect of smoking on the quality of male semen. Methods Weili Color Sperm Quality Assay System was used to measure semen volume, liquefaction time, total number of sperm, sperm density, sperm motility and sperm motility in 180 infertile men (96 infertile women and 84 infertile nonsmokers) and 112 normal fertile men. Sperm motility, sperm motility and other parameters for analysis. Results (1) Compared with the normal control group, the parameters of sperm motility and sperm motility were significantly decreased (P <0.05 or P <0.01) and the liquefaction time prolonged (P <0.05) in infertile group and infertile non-smoker group (P> 0.05). (2) The sperm motility and sperm motility of infertile smoking group were significantly lower than that of infertile non-smoking group (P <0.05 or P <0.01). (3) Compared with infertile non-smoker group, there was no significant difference in sperm parameters between the small smoker group and short smoker group (P> 0.05). The sperm count, sperm density, sperm motility and sperm motility were significantly decreased (P <0.05 or P <0.01) and liquefaction time was significantly longer in the smoky group and the smoky group compared with the infertile non-smoker group (P < 0.01). (4) There were significant differences in sperm density, liquefaction time, sperm motility and sperm motility among small smoke group and short-smoking group compared with those in high-smoke group and long-smoking group (P < 0.01). Conclusions (1) The adverse effects of smoking on sperm quality in men have dose-effect and time-effect relationship. (2) A large number of smoking (daily smoking> 20) and long-term smokers (smoking> 10 years) may be one of the important causes of male infertility.
