Indonesia is the second largest producer of natural rubber in the world after Malaysia. In the 1960s, the share of Indonesia in the global natural rubber output showed a decreasing trend. In the 1970s, their share remained fairly stable, at 25% to 27%. In 1980, Indonesia’s natural rubber production reached a record level, exceeding 1 million tons for the first time. However, the economic crisis that began in 1980 in the capitalist world has particularly affected the rubber consumer sector (automobile and tire production sectors) and adversely affected rubber production.
