From an examination of the tectonic evolution since the beginning ofPhanerozoic, four palaeo--plates can be divided in China and the adjacentregions. China plate lies in the middle, Siberia plate including Siberia Massifand Angara--Mongolia Geosyncline along its southern margin in the north,India plate including India Massif and the south Tethys Ceosyncline in thesouthwest, and Pacific plate in the southeast. The three sutures between theseplates are the Junggar--Solon Suture, the Yarlung Zangbo--Indus Suture andthe Taiwan Longitudinal Valley Suture respectively(Fig).
