Science dogmas are often overthrown. For example, most developmental biologists have speculated that the recent birth of stem cells or progenitors of naive cells already has the ability to interact with other cells, which is not. Recent research by Allan Sprading of Carnegie and postdoctoral Ming-Chia Lee confirms that naïve cells must undergo the development of a specific gene before they can participate in cohesive interactions based on normal function of the cell and the successful completion of their function . The inability of early cells to communicate is likely to provide important hints for understanding how the gene activity of normally-growing cells and cancer cells changes.
