138 Swiss adult female mice. Randomly divided into control group (18) and experimental group (20). The submandibular gland was excised from the experimental group and the submandibular gland from the control group. After the wound healed, mice were mated with normal Swiss male mice to observe the pregnancy. Results: At the completion of pregnancy, the average litter size per litter in the experimental group was 9.3 ± 1.76 (only) and that in the control group was 10.6 ± 0.97 (only), with significant differences between the two groups. On the 6th and 7th day of pregnancy, the average number of mothers and pregnant rats in the experimental group was 11 ± 1.87 (only) and that of the control group was 10.75 ± 07. There was no significant difference between the two groups. Conclusions: Submandibular gland resection can reduce the number of pregnant litter when pregnant rats complete pregnancy.
