This article describes a dual channel ΣΔ audio encoder / decoder that conforms to AT & T / CCITT specifications. The digital signal processing section is a bit-slice architecture that can be scaled to accommodate higher bit resolution. The effective area of each channel is 13mm ~ 2, using 1.5μmCMOS process. It has only one power supply and its maximum power consumption is 90mW per channel. Crosstalk between channels is less than-70db.
