In many books of contemporary economists, the service economy or the tertiary industry are mostly regarded as a new economic sector. It is true that for the developed countries, the rapid rise of the service economy is the second post-war event of this century . However, the growing importance of the service economy has not come only in this short span of decades but has been developing for more than a century. As early as 1840, the service industry in the United States became a huge industrial sector. Although its size was not as large as that of agriculture at the time, its output and employed workers surpassed all other sectors. At the end of the last century, The value added of the service industry began to take precedence over agriculture. By the end of World War II, the service industry employed more than half of the total population employed in the United States so that the United States could claim that it was the first service-economy country in the world.
