几百年来,戏曲所习惯的、也最普遍的演出形式,是不用布景的。舞台上只有简单的几样装置:“守旧”和一桌二椅,演员就在空舞台上进行创造。对于这,有些同志认为,戏曲形成于封建社会,受了当时的物质条件的限制,所以不用布景;因之,便把不用布景归结为戏曲的落后。这是不能说服人的。有没有布景,这不能作为衡量戏曲形式是先进还是落后的一个标准。艺术形式有没有生命力主要看它能不能反映生活。戏曲,它不但能够而且相当广阔、深刻地反映了生活,这就证明它不是落后的。
