Boyle (1979) reported that the H. equiae grown on the Beyjossever deposit in Québec had a gold content of 9.2 μg / g in ash and a background value of 0.095 μg / g. It is debatable whether Equisetum will accumulate gold to some extent; however, it is quite obvious that the tailings of gold-bearing mines often find this grass, and often the only plant species present . We have recently studied the gold content of the growth of the genus Hibiscus in the tailing gold mine in Nova Scotia. In neutron activation analysis, it was found that the content of arsenic in the genus Aristolochia was always high and the content of antimony was also high. This article discusses our findings and their possible implications for gold exploration.
