西藏解放之初,身经百战的张经武将军经毛泽东主席亲自授命,任中央人民政府驻西藏代表,至1965年在西藏工作15年。他与西藏上层人士广交朋友,尊重当地的宗教信仰,关心翻身农奴的生产生活,不避艰险平息叛乱,进行民主改革,发展教育培养藏族干部,为祖国统一、藏汉团结作出了不可磨灭的贡献。内请详见《新中国首任“驻藏大臣”张经武》一文。
At the beginning of the liberation of Tibet, General Zhang Jingwu, a battle-hardened general, was personally entrusted by Chairman Mao Zedong to serve as the representative of the Central People’s Government in Tibet and has worked in Tibet for 15 years until 1965. He made friends with upper-class Tibetans, respected religious beliefs in the region, paid attention to turning over serfdom and production and life, safeguarded the insurgency without reluctance and conducted democratic reforms, developed education and trained Tibetan cadres, and made indelible contributions to the reunification of the motherland and unity between Tibetans and Han contribution.
