内外转辨猜

“内转”和“外转”是等韵学上的一对概念,由于最早分内外转的韵图《韵镜》,也没对内外转的含义加以说明,于是后来的治等韵者,便有了各种解说。大致有以下两种意见:一种解释是说,“转”是指韵图中有没有真正二等韵,有者叫外转,无者叫内转,这是对“内外转”传统的解说,基本继承了《四声等子》和《切韵指掌图》中“辨内外转例”的观点;另一种意见则认为内外转与唇之开合、舌之伸缩、主要元音之侈等发音方面的因素有关,被视为对“内外转”的异解。因缺乏有力的论据,内外转究竟指的是什么?古之韵图作者是根据什么分韵图为内外转的?音韵学界还没有能使人信服的定论,一般人也只好拘守传统,“内外转”也就成了音韵学上 “Internal transfer” and “external transfer” are equivalent concepts such as rhyme.
