November 2006, the international market benchmark London Metal Exchange (LME) three-month zinc prices fell from the highest 4580 US dollars per ton began to fall, as of the end of October 2008, the lowest seen at 1075 US dollars, to close at 1140 US dollars, down 75%. The same period, the domestic benchmark Shanghai zinc futures prices fell from the highest 35,654 yuan per ton fell to the current lowest 8658 yuan, the same decline of more than 75%. In the near term, how long the downturn in zinc prices will continue to be a hot spot for the market is, in our view, notable for the four important changes that are emerging in the zinc market in comparison with the initial decline.
